CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Conference, 2012
Dear Colleagues:

You are cordially invited to attend the 2012 CBDNA/NBA Joint Southern Division Conference which will be held at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA (Northwest metro-Atlanta area) February 23-25, 2012.

Kennesaw State University is home to the Bailey Performance Center (2007), which includes a world-class 624 seat concert hall which will provide a wonderful space for our very important biennial musical gathering.

http://www.kennesaw.edu/music/bpc/about.shtml
http://www.kennesaw.edu/music/bpc/gallery.shtml

Our colleagues David Kehler and John Culvahouse will be our very talented and detail-oriented conference hosts. They have already done much work on our behalf, and I am very confident that they will do much in the coming months to insure an efficiently produced, professionally focused, and warmly collegial conference.

Our Conference "Artist-in-Residence" will be H. Robert Reynolds, who has held many important positions in our profession (University of Michigan Director of Bands - Emeritus; University of Southern California - Principal Wind Ensemble Conductor and Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings - Artistic Advisor to name a few). Prof. Reynolds will be our Presenter/Master Teacher for a "mini" conducting symposium experience on Friday of Conference week. The demonstration ensemble for these two sessions will be the very fine University of Louisville Chamber Players under the direction of Dr. Frederick Speck. CBDNA/NBA Southern Division members in good standing who are interested in applying for selection as symposium session conductors should submit a cover letter stating your interest, and a brief resume outlining educational training and professional experience to:

Richard Clary
Senior Band Conductor
The Florida State University
PO Box 3061180
Tallahassee, FL 32306-1180

Another distinguished conference Guest will be CBDNA President Eric Rombach-Kendall (Director of Bands, The University of New Mexico). Dr. Rombach-Kendall will be in attendance for most of the week, including serving as presenter/moderator of a special General Session concerning new CBDNA initiatives in music education. This session will be an opportunity for CBDNA and NBA conference attendees to discuss strategies for better assisting school music educators, and for helping to emerge from these ever-difficult times for public and private school music educators stronger and better supported. This is a priority initiative of the CBDNA National Board, and it has the full and concerted interest of the national organization. This focus on support of Music Education has long been a Southern Division point of reference, and it is mirrored by our broad-based, inclusive, and diverse group of featured performing groups.
