Art of Band Conducting 2010 Workshop, UT Austin
The University of Texas at Austin is proud to announce the 2010 Art of Band Conducting and Rehearsing Workshop. The workshop will be held Sunday through Thursday, June 13th-17th, 2010, and will feature UT faculty members Jerry Junkin, Robert Carnochan, Richard Floyd, Scott Hanna, and Robert Duke, along with special guest John Mackey. The repertoire includes music by Dvoák, Hindemith, Holst, Mackey, Mozart, Susato, and Whitacre.

The fee is $600 for participants and $350 for observers. Registration will open on February 1st, and enrollment will be limited to the first 24 paid participants. There is no limit for observers.

Summer 2010 Conducting Study Grants
CBDNA is pleased to again sponsor the conducting study grant program, which affords award recipients tuition-free participation in designated summer conducting workshops, as well as a reimbursement of up to $200 to offset incurred travel costs. This professional development opportunity is directed to conductors who are women and/or those whose ethnicities are under-represented in our profession. We seek your nominations and recommendations for those you feel may benefit from this program, and encourage you to forward this application to anyone who may be interested. Preference will be given to applicants with conducting/teaching experience, who have completed their undergraduate degree program.

Completed applications must be received by May 3, 2010.

The CBDNA Music Education Committee and the University of Minnesota, School of Music are pleased to announce a joint initiative: The Art of Wind Band Teaching Symposium. Two tracks are possible; one for experienced music educators and a second reduced tuition Fellowship Program for gifted senior music education majors.

UMKC Conservatory ~ 2010 Wind Band Teaching Symposium

Designed for middle and high school music educators, as well as college and university faculty, the Wind Band Teaching Symposium includes sessions on pedagogy, gesture, rehearsal techniques, chamber music coaching, historical context, philosophy and literature.

University of Michigan Band Conducting and Wind Pedagogy Workshop
The University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance is pleased to announce the annual Band Conducting and Wind Pedagogy Workshop (formerly known as Energize) will be held June 20-25, 2010 in Ann Arbor. This summers workshop features a revised format providing three levels of participation. (Please see website for detailed information on each level.)

- The Advanced Track offers a select group of six conductors the opportunity to conduct a highly skilled chamber winds ensemble for forty minutes each day.

- The Conductor Track is designed for educators and advanced students interested in improving their conducting and teaching skills.

- The Observer Track is designed for the educator or undergraduate student interested in improving their skills with no podium time.
